FRUITVALE CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR

The Friends of the BV Library will be holding their Annual Christmas Craft Fair on November 8 & 9, 2019. Crafters will be there to offer their personal and household wares, all skillfully created.  For further details, and any groups interested in booking a time slot, please call Rhonda at 250.367.7114
The Craft Fair is held at the Fruitvale Memorial Hall, 1968 Main Street. Admission cost, only $2.00 per person, includes a drink and muffin.  The  Craft Fair is a fun community event where all profits support programs, special collections, and equipment at the Beaver Valley Public Library, a great public resource.

CANDY CANE LANE
Candy Cane Lane is traditionally held on the Saturday of December in the Pole Yard with fun for the whole family.

There will be the outdoor Christmas market and food vendors on-site serving up some delicious eats so bring the family down for food and fun! You’ll also have a chance to pick up some great deals at our local businesses throughout the day and some wonderful local crafts at the outdoor market!   Warm-up around the Fruitvale Firefighters Bonfire and enjoy a hot dog and cup of hot chocolate while listening to the music performers and much more!  Santa will be there to hear the kids' Christmas wishes as well as there will be a activity for the kids at Santa's Village.

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA
The annual Breakfast with Santa is traditionally held on the first Saturday in December from 9 am to 11 am, at the Fruitvale Memorial Hall. Bring the kids for pictures with Santa and enjoy a pancake, egg and sausage breakfast cooked by the local firemen and served by the Beaver Valley Nitehawks for a minimal charge.  All proceeds are donated to the Beaver Valley Food Action Initiative for Christmas Hampers in the Beaver Valley to help fill food hampers for those in need of a helping hand in the Beaver Valley. This event would not be possible without Liberty AG Foods, Fruitvale Fire Department, Beaver Valley Nitehawks, Beaver Valley Recreation, and the Village of Fruitvale. For more information, please call Kelly with the Beaver Valley Recreation Department at 367-9319.

JINGLE EXPRESS TRAIN RIDE
The Jingle Express Train, hosted by ATCO Wood Products, is traditionally held on the first Saturday of December, in conjunction with Candy Cane Lane, from Railway Park to Beaver Falls.  Tickets are given out on a first come/first served basis with a monetary donation (suggested donation is $5 per ticket).  All monies raise is given to the Fruitvale Food Bank.  Watch for details in November.

CHRISTMAS FOOD HAMPERS
Do you or someone you know need a helping hand this Christmas? The Beaver Valley Food Action Initiative and BV Hamper Program is available to help.  For more information on “Beaver Valley Food Action Initiative” (BVFAI) and the Beaver Valley Hamper Fund formally known as (Fruitvale Community Chest:  Hamper Program), please call Naomi McKimmie (250-364-0999 or naomi@uwtraildistrict.org) at the United Way office.  Hamper pick up is at the Fruitvale Memorial Hall on the Saturday before Christmas so get your name to them early.

Liberty Foods graciously prepares food bags, according to the list provided by the United Way, which may be purchased and donated to the Christmas Hampers. Bags may be purchased at the checkouts at Liberty Foods then placed in the large hamper box located at the entrance to Liberty Foods. This bag system makes it a little easier on the people sorting out the hamper boxes. The Community Chest gratefully accepts all donations of non-perishable food items and there are drop-off boxes in various businesses around town.

During the season of giving, we are proud that residents are so generous to those in need.  Thank you for your generosity.

GIFTS FOR CHILDREN
The Beaver Valley Hamper Program invites you to participate in the annual Gifts for Children. Tags for children’s gifts (ages 0-13 years) can be found on the beautiful trees inside Kootenay Savings Credit Union Fruitvale Branch, the Canada Post office in Fruitvale.  Please ensure to attach the tag to the gift..  Beginning December 1, you can pick a card with the age and gender of a child in our community and replace it with an unwrapped gift for that child (gift bags are ok).
